Watching
the story unfold from the safety of our homes, our hearts are broken.
We pray for anything to make it better
Lord, just say it isn't
so! Right here in America, people are abandoned and alone, hurt
and helpless. We watch the survivors of "Katrina" wander
amongst the bodies and stench, searching for a helping hand. What
can we do? How do we help? Yesterday they had homes, families, jobs
and lives
. Today only uncertainty, pain and suffering and
for many there is no tomorrow
.
In
the face of disaster we look for answers to the many questions.
How could this happen? Mother Nature strikes and the turmoil that
follows, brings us to our knees. We pray and wonder what good can
come of it. How can we justify what is happening now? Was this just
a fluke of nature? Natural disasters seem to be increasing in number.
Are they just coincidence or could this be a warning from God? Trying
to make sense of today's world, what lesson are we to learn? When
disaster strikes we are doing the Christian thing and helping our
fellow man every way possible
.right? But I ask you, is this
enough?
This
is Gods Country isn't it? When the United States of America was
founded we were "One Nation, Under
God, Indivisible"
what are we today? Are we
a nation so full of Sin that God can't help us? Today in the midst
of these disasters, some of the very people that we are trying to
reach out and help are committing crimes against each other and
their savior. They are looting houses, businesses and shooting at
those bringing relief. Law enforcement officers are committing suicide
and fear sweeps through our nation as a shoot to kill order is passed
to restore safety
. I ask you, for the love of God, where is
the humanity?
I
hear the cries of people blaming God for not protecting them during
these tough times. Even though its human nature, how can we blame
God for not being there for us when we are not there for him? As
a country, we have removed God from almost every part of our lives.
Mentioning, praising or worshiping God is forbidden in school, at
work, or "So help you God"
in the courtroom. As a nation we have divided ourselves from
God.
Do
you remember saying the pledge of allegiance in school with "Under
God" Included? Do your children today even know
the pledge of allegiance or God? How about the words to the song
America the Beautiful? If you don't know them God is mentioned in
each of the 8 verses. God shed his grace
on thee, God mend thine every flaw, May God thy gold refine, God
shed his grace on thee, God shed his grace on thee, God shed his
grace on thee, God shed his grace on thee.
If we were only still proactively seeking God in our lives
and our country we would see more of his Grace.
If
the only time we need God or call on him is in the face of disaster,
then we can expect disasters to happen. If the only way to show
a nation we NEED God is to allow Mother Nature to provide a wake
up call
.it could happen and has. As we are trying to rebuild
what has been lost, we count the cost and lives that could have
been saved. It's time to wake up America and start living our lives
as minted on our coins
"In
God we Trust" as "One
Nation, Under God, Indivisible," otherwise we may
find ourselves during the next disaster hearing
"Depart from me, I never knew you".
